Culture and History in Hong Kong

Welcome to Hong Kong! Hong Kong is located on the southern coast of China. The territory is made up of many islands, including the Island of  Hong Kong itself. Hong Kong became a British colony in 1842 after the First Optimum War. In July 1997, the colony became Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. For this reason, Hong Kong is a melting pot of cultures, heavily influenced by the Chinese culture and the British colonialism. Despite the traditional aspects, Hong Kong is quickly becoming a business hub and one of the most modern cultures.
